Calibration and testing
What is measured on every metre, what is measured once per lot, and what the document you receive actually states.
Measured on 100% of the wire
| Property | Method | Resolution | Coverage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Diameter | In-line laser micrometer | 0.001 mm resolution | Every metre |
| Surface | Eddy-current inspection | 100% coverage | Every metre |
| Continuity | Resistance check | Per spool | Every spool |
Measured once per lot
| Property | Method | Included | Where it appears |
|---|---|---|---|
| EMF | Comparison against the reference table | On request | Certificate value |
| Resistivity | Four-terminal measurement | Standard | Certificate value |
| Tensile and elongation | Per leg, per type | Standard | Certificate value |
| Composition | Analysis of the melt | Standard on 3.1 | Certificate value |
Documents you can ask for
- EN 10204 3.1 material certificate, carrying the heat number and the measured values.
- EN 10204 3.2 where a third-party witness is required — arranged before the lot is packed, not after.
- Dimensional report for a specific spool.
- EMF calibration record for a specific batch, retrieved by the number on the spool.
Records kept
Test records are retained by batch number, so a question about a delivery made months earlier can be answered from the measurement taken at the time rather than by re-testing a sample.
If a certificate is needed for a customer’s own customer, say so when ordering. The document chain is set up at packing; asking afterwards means re-opening the lot.
